Suffolk County is currently experiencing a severe shortage of foster parents, and the department of social services has mounted an intensive recruiting effort to find persons with room in their hearts and homes to care for children in need. 

If you love and understand children, enjoy being around them, and are willing to work closely with childcare professionals, children and their families, we urge you to consider foster parenting.  The Suffolk County Department of Social Services provides training, support and guidance. 

Foster parents receive a monthly board and clothing allowance, as well as medical care for each child in foster care.   There is also a large number of children in need of adoption.  Many of these children qualify for monthly adoption subsidy payments and medical assistance until age 18 and sometimes 21.

If you are at least 21 years of age, have your own source of income (job, pension, Social Security), have space in your home, are in good health and can serve as a positive role model, please call for more information at
